after college i moved back to dc and got a heavy case of the “if i don’t play music i might kill” blues and so one drunken night i pulled sean into the basement bathroom at fairmont and told him that all i wanted to do was play music and that if i didn’t i might KILL someone. sean, who’s always trying to stop people from killing one another, agreed to play with me and that’s pretty much how teen mom got started.

i was living at my parent’s house and started recording songs in the basement. these are those songs, along with some b-sides and a remix.

man, time passed.

when i was 14 and 15, i played in an emo band whose name isn’t important. (it was bereavement.) once, at a HS football game, a younger kid i didn’t know recognized me and said, hey aren’t you that guy in that band? (why, yes...yes i am!)

there was a pathetic part of me that wanted to be in a band because i thought it would make people like me more. (oh, hey this is my friend chris - he plays in teen mom. oh cool!) that pathetic guy still exists i guess but the real meaningful stuff is when you’re playing music with your best friends and it all just clicks, or when you figure out a song that’s been bugging you. it’s like magic. it really is.

i don’t know.

i moved away from dc a few months ago and really miss playing music with sean and tom.

maybe this collection is like dreams - only interesting to the dreamer.

but i think people should share their art, and be encouraged to create things

and we should always try to be more understanding of one another
